Her father was a preacher who ruled the house like a baritone opera singer in a Greek tragedy. Her mother was a prostitute who accompanied his traumatic melody in the key of pain. Eve danced through the emotional turbulence of her childhood in the rhythm of violence and confusion. “Kill Me Softly” is a beautiful tragedy about a young woman’s quest for love and forgiveness in the shadows of death.
